Sadie: "Say Ahhh"

With all the teeth coming in for our little Sadie, we've begun to get her into the mode of having a tooth-brushing ritual.   Think she likes it?  Watch the video to see her below. (If you are reading this in your email and can't watch the video above, click here to watch it on the site.)

B1G 5K Family Run in Chicago

Over the weekend, we were able to participate in the Big Ten Network's annual 10K and 5K.  We did just the 5K, but we did it as a family.  That means that between the two of us, Nat and I pushed the double stroller all 3+ miles down the Chicago lakefront. It was a fun race and the girls even got in on the Illini spirit action.  Ellie wore her best cheerleader outfit and Sadie wore her orange Illini shirt.  Everyone running in the race was wearing their best college gear as they supported their alma mater.  I was really lucky to have Natalie embrace the Illini side of things for the morning.  She's a real trooper and went right along with my Illini craziness all day. The views were spectacular and we were able to take in the city skyline from a different perspective and the cool temperatures were even better. The girls handled themselves really well.  So much so, that we might make this an annual family outing!

Sadie the Cookie Monster

With every passing day, our little Sadie gets to try new things.  Yesterday, thanks to her Noonie, she indulged herself in a few Oreo cookies while watching the big girls at her cousin's birthday party. From the looks of it, she enjoyed them, eh?

1st Major League Game for Both Girls

Early in June, we packed up both girls and took them to US Cellular to see *MY* Chicago White Sox play on a (somewhat) chilly Friday night.   As some of you may know, the Elmhurst Parrillos are a split household.  Yep...that's right.  I grew up a White Sox fan, while Nat grew up rooting with her Grampy for the Cubs.  (We all know who is right!?!)   Both Nat and I have agreed to a truce in terms of influencing the girls towards one team or the other.  That doesn't mean that their Aunts/Uncles/Cousins haven't tried, though!  (Thanks, Sisi!) Nat and I have taken Ellie to a few minor league games, but this was both of the girl's first MLB game - and because we're suburbanites and made last minute plans, it was far easier to think about going to see the White Sox (the good guys!) play.  Papa would be proud, right? We all had a great time.  I taught Ellie the economics of bringing in your own massive bag of peanuts that you buy...
