Snow Day! November 2018

The kids woke up this morning to a total Winter Wonderland.  And the best.news.ever.  A Snow Day!  We were hit with about six inches of heavy, heavy snow (I should know....I had to shovel it!) and that meant that the buses weren't running.  I remember quite fondly snow days when I was a kid.  Felt like a total bonus day.  Our kids couldn't wait to get outside and take it all in.  So, I had them out helping me with the driveway before seven am.  Then, we got them in the backyard so they could have a ball running around (and we could go inside and watch from the warmth).  They got along so well and seemed to genuinely have a ball. I covered a "Snow Day" here on the family blog back in 2013 , but back then it was just Eloise and SD.  Action shot:

Snow Day - 2013

February has been - by all accounts - very snowy here in Elmhurst.  With a mostly snow-free winter, we here in the Parrillo house welcomed the white stuff. While Ellie is an old pro ( see snow post from 2 years ago here !), this was SD's first chance to get out and enjoy the powder.  After a bit of acclimation, Sadie learned to like sitting in the snow.  Just took a quick lesson from her sister to show her how tasty snow can be (and soothing on those teeth!). Big thanks to Aunt 'kee-kee for keeping Sadie warm! The snow was pretty good packing snow, so I gave Ellie a hand in building a snowman in the backyard.

Sledding With Cousins

Ellie met some of her cousins out on the sled hill at Eldridge Park in South Elmhurst yesterday and could not have had more fun.  I had to literally drag her to the car because she didn't want to leave.  Who knew she was such a speed demon?!?
